The Fergus Scholefield Paediatric Cancer Research Award - 2026

Penguins Against Cancer (PAC) are inviting applications for The Fergus Scholefield Paediatric Cancer Research Award.


August 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of Fergus’ death, and we will be honouring his memory by increasing our research award to £10,000, the research should contribute to a specific project to combat cancer in children, adolescents and young adults; the application forms and terms of reference are available on our website.


Previous successful applications include:

2025: Institute of Cancer Research: Generation of antibody against PAX3::FOXO1, the main oncogenic driver of fusionpositive Rhabdomyosarcoma

2024: Institute of Cancer Research: Investigation of markers associated with Epithelial to Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) to derive novel therapies for Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumours (DSRCT)

2023: Institute of Cancer Research: Identifying therapeutic strategies to combat the aggressive MYOD1L122R mutation in paediatric Rhabdomyosarcoma


If interested, forms must be completed and returned by email (address is on the form) by midnight on Friday 31st July 2026. Our research panel will then review the submissions.
