PENGUINS AGAINST CANCER

ABOUT US
Our Aim: The advancement of health and the saving of lives
of people affected by cancer.
Penguins Against Cancer is a charity set up on 6th Nov 2013 simply to combat cancer. Its founders were drawn from Guy's Hospital Penguins, the oldest team in the oldest rugby club in the world, but now its members come from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and professions, all uniting to support Cancer Research, Cancer Treatment and Hospices. Penguins Against Cancer has no start-up or running costs: every penny donated goes to the fight against cancer.
* "Dare Quam Accipere"
* (It is better to give than to receive.)
Penguins Against Cancer (PAC) is to raise £1 million in order to make a significant contribution to the fight against cancer.
Our Mission Statement
Here's how we're kicking cancer into touch:
Support is provided to individuals and organisations nominated by PAC members, many of whom have had loved ones fall victim to cancer. Organisations supported thus far include: Bowel Cancer UK, Guy's Cancer Charity, Princess Alice Hospice, Pancreatic Cancer UK, St Luke's Hospice, Lymphoma Action, The Urology Foundation, Institute of Cancer Research, University of Dundee, Action Bladder Cancer, Macmillan Cancer Support, St Christopher's Hospice, Target Ovarian Cancer, Breast Cancer Now, Neuroendocrine Cancer, Birmingham Hospice, Velindre Cancer Centre, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, OddBalls Foundation, Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.
This approach enables support to be targeted to particular individuals and organisations, and makes the process of staging events to raise money personal, vivid and special. It allows those bereaved and otherwise affected to contribute directly and tangibly to the memory of the cancer victim.
The events are designed to be both altruistic and fun, celebrating memories and achievements, rather than mourning loss. Sporting fixtures are popular with rugby, cycling and golf featuring frequently, often followed by fundraising dinners with auctions, entertainment, raffles and time to enjoy each other’s company.

Grant Thanks: Velindre
On behalf of Velindre Cancer Centre, I would like to thank you for your kind donation of £5000 proposed by Pat Gush. We understand that your donation was inspired by Sally Coleman, who continues to be a much-loved patient of ours.
Please know that we are incredibly moved by your gesture, and by the way you’ve chosen to honour her strength and courage. Contributions like yours enable us to continue providing world-class care, ground-breaking research, and vital support services for people affected by cancer.
Thank you so much for being part of the Team Velindre. We couldn’t support our patients, families and staff without you and we hope you’ll join us again as we continue on our journey. (April 2025)
