On Friday 20th October sixty intrepid Penguin golfers plus their supporters arrived mid–morning in Henry VIII’s back yard, Hever Castle in the depths of Kent. This was the 9th PAC Annual Golf Day and took the format of a Texas Scramble with a few twists including: Mulligans, betting holes and some of the worst swings ever seen in the Garden of England.

Congratulations to the Harwood’s Team; a fathers and sons’ four ball who carried off the main PAC Claret Jug, winning the Scramble cup with an impressive net score of 61. Nearest the pin went to Mike Scott and the longest drive to Raph.

Following a hearty meal, the awards the speeches and the auction were boisterously enjoyed by the now ‘well-oiled’ audience. Thanks go to some current Penguins plus the wider membership and friends for their generous donations. Thanks to their continued support we auctioned a Ski Apartment International Rugby tickets FA Cup Semi-Final tickets, golf lessons and a luxury Elemis Advent Calendar. All the above, plus ‘Pat’s Magic Raffle’ managed to push the overall fundraising on the day to just short of £5,000. Thank you all so much.

The youngest of the flock then retired to the centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells for further festivities awaking the next morning in various abodes around the outskirts of the town.

Huge thanks goes to Hever Golf Club, the Gushes and Beardmores for their support on the day and especially the Costellos for organising and hosting the extravaganza.

Next year’s 10th anniversary golf day is already confirmed for Friday June 16th and will be hosted by the reigning champions the Harwoods. Venue to be confirmed.
